Drabble: One small step

Fandom: Primeval
Pairing: None
Rating: PG
Notes: For primeval100 challenge 203: Rescue

One small step…

Connor felt the cold mud seeping into his boot as soon as his foot hit the ground, glancing down in dismay. Not good, he thought, wondering what on earth had possessed him to try and jump the stream in his path. There were rocks he could have used as stepping stones, but no, he had to jump, didn’t he? He tried to lift his foot but the mud kept tight hold of him.

“Guys? Help.”

Becker and Dev both turned, biting back laughter as they saw him. Dev jumped nimbly across the rocks, offering a hand to pull Connor free.
