Rex landed on the high window and chattered miserably. Beyond the glass he could see people walking about, going where they pleased, while he was in here. Abby used to take him home with her and he’d liked it there. But then one day, Abby didn’t come home and some strange men had come and put him in a box, bringing him here. He didn’t like it here. There were other animals here, strange ones.
Why couldn’t he go home?
Sometimes Lester came to see him, and sometimes Becker, but he wanted Abby back. He wanted to go back home.
