Anomaly
Connor sat on the grassy hillside beside Becker, leaning back on his elbows. In front of them, the anomaly glittered and shimmered in a ball of light, suspended in the air about four feet from the ground. He watched it sparkle in the sun, entranced by the patterns.
“It’s pretty.”
Becker frowned. “What is?”
“The anomaly,” Connor told him. “It’s been a long time since I really looked at one. We’re usually so busy chasing whatever came through that we don’t see them any more.”
Becker smiled. “It is beautiful,” he agreed, settling back in the grass next to Connor.
