Lester stepped aside as Sid and Nancy scampered out of the kitchen, Nancy dragging a pancake behind her, and settled together under the coffee table to devour it.
How was it possible to make this much mess? Lester thought, looking around his kitchen. Batter dripped from the worktop, flour made a white coating over everything, including Connor.
“James! I was making pancakes-”
“I see that. Your pets are certainly enjoying theirs.”
“I tried to flip it but I, um, missed.”
Lester moved to stand behind him, hands over Connor’s. “Then let me show you how it’s done…”
