Title/Prompt: 182 – Haunted
Pairing/s: Nick / Connor (past Nick / Stephen)

Nick had tried, really he had. He enjoyed spending time with Connor and he’d been flattered when the lad had made it clear that he wanted more than just friendship. He wanted it too, but a little voice in the back of his mind kept telling him he was betraying Stephen by trying to move on. He wanted to be able to start a new relationship: he couldn’t stop his life at the point when he lost Stephen.

He deserved to be happy again, but he couldn’t do that unless he could rid himself of the ghosts of the past.

Pairing/s: Nick / Connor

He was supposed to be happy; he and Nick had been seeing each other for about a month now and he couldn’t have been happier to begin with. Nick took him to dinner, treated him, listened to his ramblings about comic books and science fiction without objection. And then…

He wasn’t sure what was wrong. Nick kept pulling away from him every time they got close physically. Connor kept wondering what he’d done wrong, how he’d messed up this time to make Nick change his mind.

Abby told him he should ask, but Connor still hadn’t worked up the nerve.

It took Connor a week to steel himself, but he had to know. Trying to work out what he’d done to upset Nick was driving him crazy.

He waited until they’d had dinner that night and were sitting in Nick’s lounge.

“Nick? Have I done something wrong?”

Nick frowned. “Why on earth would you ask that?”

“I must have, because you don’t want me any more.”

“You’ve done nothing wrong, Connor, it’s me. It’s my fault and I should have talked to you. I didn’t want to hurt you, though.”

“Well, good or bad, I need you to tell me.”

Title/Prompt: 101 – Memories
Pairing/s: Nick / Connor (past Nick / Stephen)

“I was involved with Stephen,” Nick said quietly. “We were together for a couple of years in all and, although it was rough toward the end, we still cared for each other. When you and I got closer, I felt like I was betraying him by being happy with you.”

He looked up at Connor. “I didn’t want you to feel like you were being compared to him. You’re not. This was something I needed to work out on my own. I needed to lay the memories to rest.”

“So you still want me?”

“More than anything.”

Connor smiled. “Good.”

**wipes away a stray tear** Those were lovely. Absolutely perfect. Just enough angst and then... hope. It will all work out but I'm afraid there may be rough patches ahead. Loved it.

So like Nick to find it hard to let go of the past. I'm glad he's got Connor to help :-)

I'm glad I was able to read this as a complete set in one go - it feels very complete. I like the changing povs. And Nick's acknowledgement of what Stephen meant to him.

Oh, boys! They'll get there eventually, especially now that they've talked about it and understand each other.
